<h5>Complete the online application and pay the application fee</h5>
<p>This process should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.</p>


<h5>Submit required documents</h5>
<p>Submit the following documents for an admission decision:</p>
<ul>
<li>Valid driver&#8217;s license &#8211; NLC&#8217;s medical physical release form &amp; DOT physical</li>
<li>Official High School / GED transcript</li>
<li>Proof of insurance (due by start of the term)</li>
<li>5-panel DOT look-a-like drug test (completed by a licensed provider)</li>
</ul>


<h5>Enrollment</h5>
<p>Upon acceptance into the program, admissions will contact you to arrange payment of the enrollment deposit and to sign the electronic enrollment agreement.</p>

How do I become a lineman?

<p><span data-sheets-root="1">*We could describe the pathway into an apprenticeship here again like what we have on the career page. I will copy it for reference.</span></p>
<p>To become a lineman or electrical lineworker, you can start as a pre-apprentice. Pre-apprenticeships provide hands-on training and education to prepare for an apprenticeship. As a pre-apprentice, you would learn tool handling, safety procedures, and technical knowledge related to the trade. After completing the pre-apprenticeship, you will move on to an apprenticeship program, where you will work with a more experienced professional to gain practical training and guidance. Apprenticeships for linemen typically last between three to four years, during which you would earn a salary while learning valuable skills on the job. Once you have completed the apprenticeship program and gained several years of experience, you can become a journey-level lineman by taking the journeyman&#8217;s exam to obtain your journeyman license or certification. This allows you to work as a qualified professional in your chosen trade.</p>

<h5>Pre-Apprentice</h5>
<p>A pre-apprentice is someone interested in a skilled trade career who hasn’t started an apprenticeship yet. Pre-apprenticeships offer hands-on training and education to prepare for an apprenticeship. They learn tool handling, safety procedures, and technical knowledge related to their chosen trade. It’s a great way to gain knowledge and experience before starting an apprenticeship.</p>

<h5>Apprentice</h5>
<p>An apprentice learns a trade or skill from a more experienced professional. While in an apprenticeship, they work with their mentor to gain practical training and guidance. Apprenticeships typically last between three to four years. As an apprentice lineman, you earn a salary while you learn and gain valuable skills on the job. Becoming an apprentice is a great way to develop the necessary skills to start a career in a skilled profession.</p>

<h5>Journey-level</h5>
<p>A journey-level trades worker or journeyman is a skilled person who has completed an apprenticeship program and has several years of experience in their trade. They use their knowledge to solve problems and do the job right. They take pride in their work and make sure it’s safe and of the highest quality.&#8221;</p>

<p><span data-sheets-root="1">To be eligible to attend NLC, you must</span></p>
<p>Be at least 18 years of age by the start date of the term you select.<br />
Have a high school diploma or GED.<br />
Possess a valid driver’s license.<br />
Be eligible to obtain a Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL).<br />
Be physically and mentally fit to participate (official Medical Release form provided during enrollment process).<br />
Provide proof of current medical insurance coverage by the start date of the term you select. (Students are required to keep current coverage for the duration of the program.)<br />
Not have a felony conviction on your record.<br />
Weigh no more than 270 pounds due to weight restrictions of fall protection equipment.<br />
Complete the online learning readiness assessment (Hybrid program only).</p>
